In 1 Corinthians 1:26 - 31, Paul continues to expose the foolishness of human wisdom and the weakness of human power in comparision to the wisdom and power of God. If human wisdom is foolishness than is Godly wisdom irrational to humans? How is the power of God displayed? In this sermon Charlie Nason answers these questions.

Paul says that the word of human wisdom and strength is nullified by the word of the cross. Humanity languishes helpless at the foot of the cross. A person cannot think of a solution for the dilemma nor has the strength to implement one if it were available. Humanity lays dead at the cross until he hears the life-giving call of God. How does one distinguish between mere human wisdom and the word of the cross. Paul outlines the answer in these few short verses. The sermon by Charlie Nason is based on 1 Corinthians 1:18-25.

NOTE: THE RECORDING OF THE SERMON STOPS APPROXIMATELY 5-10 MINUTES BEFORE THE SERMON ACTUALLY ENDED.
Paul in 1 Corinthians chapter 1 - 4 lays out what an effective church does and does not do. This still applies to churches today. In chapter 1 verses 10 - 17, Paul has one point and that one point is the priority for an effective church. The point is to proclaim the gospel of the cross of Christ in unity of mind and judgment. This one point is the priority over any other ministry of the church. This point and priority is good for non-believers, new believers, or even mature believers. This sermon is by Charlie Nason from 1 Corinthians 1:10 - 17.

This sermon begins a series in 1 Corinthians. The city of Corinth was much like the San Francisco Bay Area. It was a metropolis where people came to so they could gain status and climb the social ladder. There were competing philosophies compelling the listeners through rhetorical means. There was illicit sex and idol worship and so much more. This letter than is a letter Paul could have written directly to the church in this San Francisco Bay area. By the way, he calls you saints even though he has to correct many errors in doctrine and lifestyle. This sermon is by Charlie Nason.

In Romans 12:3 - 8, Paul reminds the believer of the pride in the heart and the need for a mindset of humility. He teaches believers to not exalt themselves in their thinking, especially in the area of gifts. Believers are to think realistically about their gifts meaning according to a Biblical worldview. The church is an organic unity with a purposeful diversity. Each member of the church has been gifted to exercise their gift to the benefit of others in their influence (believer or non-believer). The gift is to be exercised according to the personal conviction of the gifted believer while he/she remains within the bounds of Scripture. The believer is to focus in the area of their giftedness and serve to the point of exhaustion. This sermon is by Charlie Nason.

We have seen that we present our bodies not out of obligation but in gratitude and expectation of God's merices. The gratitude is for the mercy recieved and the expectation is more mercy and blessing from the hand of God. We present our bodies by no longer being conformed to the world but being transformed in our preceptions of the world. This sermon by Charlie Nason is based on Romans 12:2.

In the season of Christmas we think back on the baby in the manger - God pouring himself into a human body. We do so out of reverance for His person. As we look at this event we also ask ourselves why? Why did God pour himself into a human body and be named Jesus? In this sermon I have searched the Gospels for the phrase "I have come" uttered by Jesus. I have condensed these statements into seven reason Jesus says he came. This sermon is by Charlie Nason. Below are a list of passages braceted by point. (John 8:42; John 16:27 - 28; John17:18) (John 5:43; John 6:38; John 7:28) (Matthew 5:17; John 12:27) (Matthew 9:13; Luke 5:32; Mark 2:17) (Matthew 10:34-35; Luke 12:49; Luke 12:51; John 9:39) (Mark 1:38; John 18:37) (John 10:10; John 12:46)

Psalm 119 is a psalm of restoration. It is a psalm sung and memorized by those who are longing to turn their religious activity into a relationship with God who has saved them. Today we look at Psalm 119:129 - 152. Here the psalmist has found quantifiable understanding in the testimonies of the Lord, he recognizes that God's righteousness is the bulwark for the truth of his rules, and his earnest supplication to God is established by an affection for him and his word.
How does someone fight to keep the Lord as his/her portion when the world is bent against that concept? Charlie teaches on this matter by reviewing the positive aspect of what it is to have the Lord as your portion and the negative aspect of what to remove from your heart to keep the Lord as your portion. He will explain the inner workings of the heart and how to battle remaining sin. This sermon is based on Psalm 119:57 and Romans 8:13 focusing on the second.
Is the Lord your portion? What does it mean to have the Lord as your portion? The response is: to promise to keep his word. What do these mean? It is important to know what these mean. If the Lord is not your portion you may not have a saving relationship with the Lord. This sermon by Charlie Nason is from Psalm 119:57.

As we continue in Psalm 119 (verses 33 - 56) we see that the psalmist wants to be Established in God's statutes, Freed to speak and obey God's laws boldly, and Grimaces at the rejection of God's promises. From this, we learn that grounding our thinking in God's revealed word frees us to be different than the world for the purpose of starting conversations that lead to the gospel. It also exposes the reality that the rejection of God's word (and so our testimony) is coming. We, therefore, brace ourselves for the onslaught by the world. This sermon is by Charlie Nason. NEW: Go to Sermon Notes on the main site for a written handout as a visual to follow along.
