Sinners Forgiving Sinners
Jesus said to forgive or your heavenly father will not forgive you. Paul says we are to forgive in the same way God in Christ has forgiven us. With such clear teaching, why do we find it hard to forgive? Jesus says if someone sins against you that you ought to go to him and show him his fault with the attitude of forgiveness. The idea is to win the one who sinned against you. Why does free grace, unmerited forgiveness, grate against us so? Paul explains that there is an internal battle where our flesh wars against the working of the Holy Spirit. In short, we, in and of ourselves, do not want to. We would rather watch them grovel enough to earn any forgiveness we might extend to them. That attitude is un-Christian or worse demonic. We must learn as sinners to forgive other sinners who sin against us. Listen as Charlie Nason preaches from Galatians 5:16 - 23 as it relates to forgiveness.
