Malachi continues declaring God's message to God's people. This week God demands that his people guard their spirit. He gives three areas to watch and guard. Guard your spirit or yourself and then guard your intimate relationships and guard the spirit of your community. God's people have not honored and loved God but because of his unchanging character and his declaration of love they are not consumed. They are not consumed because out of God's love he sends a messenger to prepare the way of the Lord who will come suddenly into his temple.
