Reminding You of the Glory of Christ

Peter is desperate to remind believers of the glory of Christ. He does so because a proper understanding of who Christ is and what he has done is the only means to faith and the moral character that accompanies it. Too many preachers use the Bible as an ethics book. Their teaching is to motivate people to morally better lives. They teach an example from different characters in the Bible and exhort believers to live like these examples. However, the power for godly living does not come from within or by the external influence of exhortations. All things necessary for life and godliness are granted by his divine power through his promises fulfilled in Christ. Therefore, a believer must see Christ in the glory of his person and work so that through faith in Christ the believer may be propelled into moral courage and character. Charlie Nason preaches from 2 Peter 1:12-21.
