Peter gets down to it. Up to this point you might mistakenly think Peter is encouraging you to add traits for spiritual maturity. If you thought this you would be partially right. However, here in this passage is the point of striving unto spiritual maturity; it is a test. If you have these traits and there is fruit then you can be assured you are saved.
