Paul has finished his teaching on Christ and him crucified from the first four chapters. Paul now begins to apply that teaching to a church who is arrogant while there is sin in the church. Paul deals with the church although he is absent from them in body he is present in spirit. Therefore, he urges them to hand the one in sin over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh that his spirit might be saved in the Day of the Lord. This passage (1 Cor. 5:1 - 5) is packed.
